What we do at LCI
What we do at LCITumor Board:
Tumour Board is a group of doctors with different specialties that meets regularly as the Hospital to discuss cancer cases and share knowledge. The Board objective is to determine the best possible cancer treatment and case plan for an individual patient. Having fresh perspectives from other doctors makes it much easier to come up with that plan.
Surgical Oncology
Surgical oncology is the branch of surgery applied to oncology; it focuses on the surgical management of tumors, especially cancerous tumors.
Radiation Oncology
Radiation therapy or radiotherapy, often abbreviated RT, RTx, or XRT, is therapy using ionizing radiation, generally as part of cancer treatment to control or kill malignant cells and normally delivered by a linear accelerator, brachytherapy.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy is a type of cancer treatment that uses drugs to destroy cancer cells. Chemotherapy works in a pattern of stopping or slowing the growth of cancer cells, which grow and divide quickly. But it can also harm quickly dividing healthy cells, such as those that lie in the mouth and intestines or cause hair to grow. Damage to healthy cells may cause side effects.
